LAFAYETTE, NJ, July 14, 2011 -- On the heels of our “Dog Days of Summer” event, it’s time to dream of a white Christmas in Olde Lafayette Village. Don’t worry, there will be plenty of cool shopping deals, frosty drinks, and refreshments for everyone (yes, including the dog). Find new ways to relax and enjoy our new status as New Jersey’s dog friendliest place to eat and shop!
Don’t miss the photo op with Santa and Mrs Claus in the Village Hall! Create your early Holiday portrait (dogs and kids) with Santa and Mrs Claus (courtesy of Prim Pantry) dressed in their best summer vacation attire.
Find more of Santa’s Holiday friends ready to take photos with “Fido” at Fuzzy Station, Olde Lafayette Village’s new doggy daycare… including your favorite green grouch, courtesy of the Greater Newton Costume Company (Costumefx.com). Get your photo on the spot, or find your image also posted on Shutterfly to create your own personalized Holiday greeting cards.
At noon on Saturday, and noon on Sunday, the first 30 dogs arriving at Fuzzy Station will collect a free set of dog-antlers. Then line up your “reindeer” for a parade around the village (courtesy of Fuzzy Station and The Village Barkery) at 1pm on both days. Best in parade will win 5 free hours of doggy daycare at Fuzzy Station and a free nail clip and groom at The Village Barkery.
Some other give-aways and fun-filled activities include:
- Two different outdoor bands will play under the trees with plenty of seating. Saturday, RFX will perform and Sunday, Mike Frank and Friends. Thanks to the Spirit of the Arts Foundation for arranging the music.
- Funnel Cakes and Fried Oreos from ABN Food, and an inspired seasonal drinks including the “Poinsettia” available in the non-alcoholic version at Everything Homemade. Get the high-test version of a special Holiday cocktail at the Lafayette House where you can sit outside with your dog next to the pub, or come inside to their rustic bar….decorated for the season!
- Christmas Carolers will be singing throughout the Village or join in for a sing along at the piano (courtesy of Music in Motion).
- Everything Homemade will be serving Christmas cookies and holiday drinks for people as well as for fuzzy friends.
- Delicious food will be available from Onohula's gourmet menu including a Tropical roasted turkey Haiwaiian Dinner plate or a Pele Volcano chicken plate !
- Take a peek at Maidenform’s select Holiday undergarments showcased on the front porch.
- Guess how many Beagles in our Beagle pile! Winner will be randomly selected from among correct (or close) guesses and will win a free custom item valued up to $100 at Fuzzy Nation.
- On Saturday and Sunday at 2pm in Bldg. H at the pond Laughter Heart Presents – A Taste of Merriment. Blow bubbles, dance, and clap all while lowering your stress and imporving your health. Laughter Yoga…it’s free, and good for you.
- Take your dog to the brand new off-leash dog run for some frolicking and fun, now open daily during business hours. The dog run will have a Yappy Hour between 5 and 6pm every afternoon – time set aside in the dog run exclusively for small dogs under 30 lbs. Thanks to Greener Concepts in Sparta for our new lush grass!
- Of course, there will be plenty of doggie swimming pools throughout the Village to keep cool. You might see a dog elf or two in there, too!
- You’ll find poopy bag dispensers, honor system water bowls, and water throughout both shopping zones. Most stores allow dogs inside, and are clearly designated. Should you need to have lunch, dinner, or shop without the dog, a newly launched pet sitting service in Lafayette Village, Fuzzy Nation’s “Fuzzy Station”, located adjacent to Fuzzy Nation) will dog-sit your pooch for a couple of hours.
